Natalie Djurberg. Above ' It's the Mother' 2008
Watching 'The Prostitute' animation, i have a feeling of me being there, watching her. It is quite a beautiful piece even though it is about a prostitute. The music goes wells with you peering through the holes and gaps in the curtains. You enter into this world but never go too far. All the way through the animation I am quite tense. It feels wrong to watch a toy/doll/ children's medium / animation with the context of the prostitute. So i feel tense watching, like something really bad and sexual is going to happen even though it is just really at the end of the day a doll. there maybe something about dolls having sex. There is someone behind the doll making them have sex. They are in control and the dolls are objects. This is what she explores mainly in her animation. She explores themes of women/female as a sex object. She is a toy being played with. but she teases you in. \the body is someones tool.
