Here, Gavant makes her ' doll-like' structures have a function. This is a handbag and a purse and she has also created braclets etc. Giving these characters a function allows them to exist in the real world. It allows a fantasy creature into our world where these creatures may not exist. It crosses the two worlds together - merging them. If we were in the fantasy world, they would have the implications of a bag and a purse, even though they may not exist in a fantasy world. In the fantasy world, they looks as though they should talk, move etc. Whereas they exist in our world by being a functioned object.
The eyes in the first image are created using dolls eyes, something in which used to create a 'toy' to appear to see, to appear more human like.
